Oh by the way

So after all that mind preparation, pops has had the final say on my travelling and its a big fat NO. My mum and I tried to make him see reason including the fact that my friend is going to think im using that at as a major excuse but he is adamant.

'You are not going!, no way, please, we were to send a girl at the company to Benin and her father wrote to say the road is bad and he would not risk his daughters life. Its the same here, I don't trust these planes, infact they are about to ALL be grounded. Please my daughter, you can't go. Get her a very nice present.'
'Daddy nothing is going to happen, and A is going to be very mad at me. She'll think I'm lying cos I was avoiding it. I can't miss it and there are other people going anyway'
'Is it Aero? Is it Virgin?' No
'TELL HER TO CALL ME IF SHE DOES NOT BELIEVE YOU'

This man sef. Needless to say I think I've lost a friend :(

Have a great weekend people. I officialy start my new job on Monday. Wish me luck on my first day :)

I can't say I blame your dad - he's only thinking of your safety. If your friend is indeed a good friend, she will understand.

aww - so dad has poured sand in your gari - but He is right - there is a sying what a child cannot see when he climbs an iroko tree a parent can see sitting down. LOLOLOL- I dont know who told me this -

Even though nothing will happen to you - it is better to take your fathers advice - so I can see you are not going - dont worry -

please do not feel like you have lost a friend. This is a tough time and your dad is just looking out for you. Shows the love he has for you. honestly I probably woould have said no to my child as well. Given what we know about the airlines. I am certain your friend will understand:)Send her a lovely gift and oh have fun on your first day at work and smile as much as possible. Hate to say it I am relieved you did not chanchangi (spelling?)

I feel ur dad on this, it's a tough decision he needed to make on ur behalf - air travel once used to be the safest mode of transportation but not so in Nigeria, dont even think of going by road ...

Just like others, I will suggest you simply buy her a lovely gift and remind her that there are many more things to be celebrated in future; hopefully she'll understand.

Best wishes with ur new job.

Your dad's sentiments are pretty much standard in nig as the other comments have shown. no aero no virgin no go is the motto that we live by. I flew Bellview once cos virgin was booked and the looks of desparation on the other passengers faces anytime the plane moved funny due to turbulence made decide to stick with the above motto. Long story is long story. Anyway good luck with your new job and no matter what they tell you working on weekends should be fought against with all your power and might.
