The secret

So my friends and I were discussing the very important topic...'Why black guys choose white girls'...we deliberated through the whole thing in the middle of a restaurant filled with white people.

Some guys would pick white girls every time over a black girl for no apparent reason. I mean I'm all for interracial relationships and all seeing as I may be having a blue eyed blonde curly haired baby but some black guys seem to avoid black girls just on principle. These were the kinds we were trying to dissect. I mean, the fact that we may choose not to date outside our race (or even our tribe in Nigeria) could be seen as harsh and closed minded or even racist but choosing only to date outside your race seems a bit worse. Like...what did they ever do to you to make you that mad?

Anyway, one of the girls told us she had asked her guy friend who had given her the answer. The answer that he thinks makes perfect sense. I mean why didn't we see it before? It’s so obvious...please right click and scroll over the next line to see what it is my black sisters...

Y'ALL KEEP YOUR HAIR IN TOO LONG!

What can I say to that? Nothing!

I think it might be difficult to give any reason for a person's preferences. I know of a Nigerian who asked why he would come to Europe to eat exactly the same things he ate in Nigeria.... And there are others who simply find a girl beautiful because she is of a different colour. Something close to that happens with Europeans too. I have some white friends who say they wouldn't say hi to another white person they meet in Africa for no other reason than that they are white. There are different reasons for that too. I think the question should be posed to individuals.

...it smells! Ouch! didn't see that coming...

loomnie is right..the question should be posed to individual...personally i have ever ever been attracted to a white person(except for er...brad pitt,josh lucas)...i love my 9ja boys..but if i meet that oyibo guy that would trip me and all...yup!i will go 4 it..okay i made it totop 10

I suppose you know where my yearnings lie, although I still do get attracted to other girls. On the other hand, there're still some girls who get angry because you don't want to date your color. Well, who cares?

TMinx said...

@LB, lazy you are
@Mr Fineboy..did u get it?
@LB, slow you are
@loomnie, no we were curious about those indivuduals who would pick a certain clour not to date, especailly one that they are. We wanted to know the thougt process (as many as they may be) as to why that specific scenario
@9ja opeke, lol..nope
@pink satin, lol, TV stars? I guess cos they r more like a fantasy?
@Azuka, we were more curious than angry..really who cares but I find it fascinating.

LMAO!not all black girls do that,although i have seen some braids that have become dreads.

I agree, not everyone has artificial hair! :)

I do feel sorry for guys though- just imagine being used to burying your face in your oyibo gf’s hair (or anyone who washes her hair very regularly), getting a whiff of nice-smelling shampoo etc and then having to deal with the smell (THAT smell!!!) of unwashed braids/weave and hair grease, dandruff etc!

BTW, just thought I'd get your opinion on this one- don't u think it is rude (maybe not rude, but not PC) to use the words, 'white girl/boy/people' esp in a public place full of Caucasians? It may be the right description but I would personally find it offensive if tables were turned i.e. a group of white people were having an argument and kept referring to 'black girls, black boys'. It's not very PC.

PS. Re the text in white, didn’t u mean left click as opposed to right? (for PC users anyway)

Miss Opeke said...

On a serious note, I think it is b/c Black girls have too much drama...

TMinx said...

@classybabe, not my words oh, this was one of the reasons a guy mentioned lol
@anonymous, diff strokes I guess, I think black and white is PC, they don't sound offensive at all. All these rules are too many for me. The only words I find offensive are those used in derogratory terms. I will be sure not to use it if it really is offensive to thers though...but i wonder why.
@9ja, I don't think one race has more drama over another, every girl has drama!

Its not a hair thing!! He's not being truthful. LOL!!

Tminx, back to the PC'ness of referring to someone by their colour. It is not wrong per se, it's mainly about looking past the colour of one's skin when trying to describe them... It's like shouting in the middle of the streets of london, 'call that white woman pls', or 'pick up the piece of paper next to the black lady', don't u reckon it sounds a tad inappropriate... Anyway this is my first/second time posting on ur blog. Bet u'll never guess who i am! xx

loomnie said...

@anon, but if the basis of the discussion is colour how do we escape mentioning it? How do you think TM should have referred to preferences based on colour? Maybe she should have used terms like caucasian and negroid? I reckon that the one that starts with an 'n' might remind some of less honourable words, from the same root, that also starts with an 'n'. I think that PCness can only be taken so far, lest we are robbed of words to describe regular everyday lived experiences.

TMinx said...

@l, not my friend oh..loll...thanks for your input.
@Anonymous, I'm sure I can't guess cos you are anonymous lol. I get your point though..but I highlighted the situation because i thought it was bizzare but the convo sucked us in. So who are you?

Unknown said...

lmao... you really can't say anything to that, and then that yeye hottie's picture takes the cake

Funny you all should mention the black/white issue...I work in an office where i'm the only black person and someone once said 'oh, we should all bring in pictures of when we were babies and try and guess who's who'! I said...'Well, everyone would get mine being the only black person here!'....laughing. Their response? Silence, then swiftly changing the topic! I don't understand it, it's a fact, I AM the only black person in the office, why should they be afraid to acknowledge it? Since when did saying the words 'black' or 'white' become taboo? We use labels like short, tall, long hair, short hair, blonde, brunette ALL THE TIME...it's an accurate description is all....

I'm rambling...

lol. I really didnt know guys got hair; actually was pretty sure most of them either dont notice or care unless they can play with it ie. its long and smells nice. Oh well, most oyibo guys dont for sure so maybe more black women should switch. I cannot for the life of me understand why this FOL chick thinks shes soo fly though..although, I gotta admire her confidence. She is inhm a HAM.

It does not only have to do with the hair. Putting it quite simply, white girls are seen as more attractive. It's about what has been dictated as beautiful for centuries. Who gets the covers of magazines, who plays the sexy female role in movies...take a look at the rap videos, what's the proportion of full black women to mixed black women in the videos...5:1, 10:1....It's a white man's world and we all live in it.

Anonymous said...

that should say 1:5 or 1:10...my bad

T-minx- first let me say great post. Why do you think you would have a white baby with blonde hair and blue eyes?

Next, not all women wear weaves, and braids that are artificial.I never needed to do that, so I don't know what this guy is talking about.

People come up will all different reasons to justify dating or marrying outside of their race.

I personally prefer black men. I have never dated interracially,but I have dated people that were
mixed between black and indian.

I think people should do whatever they know they can live with. If you see a black person staring at you when you have a white person on your arm- he is entitled to feel that way- that sense of betrayal.As you are entitled to your feeling...

The Life of a Stranger called me said...

Im going to come from a totally different angle to the colour thing. We as the created are many and are of races and colours. I don't find it offensive when some one calls me a black woman when I know I am, or if in america an african american (even though Im black british/nigerian/african). Whats my point, if Tminx didn't mention the fact that her talk was based on the women of the white colour, which in every equal opportunity forms we all fill is stated very obvious we should tick so that one could be identified, we will not understand what her story today was based on.

Now if she had used a derogatory term for white/black/mixed/asian, then there will defo be something to mnetion about.

But to get back on the topic, I think the guys have their own reasons. For my older br for example, we grew in a predominatly white neighbourhood, and all we mixed with were with the white folks. My first boyfriend was a white guy..LOL.. All my brothers girlfriends are all white. He never seems to find one and now because he's used to dating white gals, he now has excuses for not dating balck girls, when I know the original reason.

anyhows you can see im bored.

*sigh*... The interracial dating argument is one that never ends... Hey, has anyone thought that maybe its just that white girls pursue black men more aggressively..? Plus, I heard white girls are freaks in the sack...lol..

Seriously though, I don't know... I'm still cracking up at all the responses..

I am attracted to men period. irrespective of race. I am not offended when I see interracial couples out and about. We cannot help to whom our hearts gravitate and putting all stupid man made restrictions on feelings like race and tribe is a useless waste of time. If u are willing to let go of a perfectly good experience just to please people of your tribe, u are crazy.
I know it is quite cheesy to say that if u love someone then go right ahead and do just that but I will. life is too short and I have told my parents that if they stress me out over whom I end up with, I am bringing home a Japanese husband and and Aborigene grandchild. C'est finit
